Decided to grab the camera and get out of the condo for a few hours yesterday. Headed down to Soi Nana, great people watching there.
For the uninitiated, Sukhumvit Soi 4 (aka Soi Nana) is one of three red-light districts in Bangkok. Home to Nana Plaza (go-go bars), it also houses a number of beer bars along the soi which tend to be busy most of the time.
Sat in Hillary 4 and then went across the road to Hooters and tried to get a handful of decent pictures.
This guy has decided to stop and pose for a photo. I think his girl, looking back, is wondering what all the fuss is about?
A very popular noodle stand outside K&S bar.
Smartphones have changed the bar industry. A message from home?
Mr Myagi doesn’t look too pleased with me 🙁 Nice manbag!
Stuck in traffic. I am one of the few who walk in Bangkok
Catching up with an old friend? The guy in the background has spotted my tripod and zoom lens, no doubt. I threw a filter on this one, like it in B&W
A penny for your thoughts.
Can’t go wrong with black leather pants.
Change – The only constant of our lives
Soi 4 has changed a lot since my first visit in 2011. I weep as I see the Bangkok I once loved disappear before my eyes, quickly becoming a concrete jungle of shopping malls and condos.
If you want to see what some of Bangkok’s nightlife areas used to look like then Bangkok Eyes is a great resource. Done a terrific job over the years in chronicling the constant of change.
I miss the Subway being gone from the soi but thankfully Ronnie’s NY pizza has survived.
Soi 8 appears to be the next target. Sigh. Better get to the Kiwi soon before it disappears.
