Just got back from a few days away recharging the batteries at Koh Samed. As I mentioned before, it’s a great little getaway within reach from Bangkok. On previous visits I never gave the camera much of a workout, but this time the occasion was a good friends wedding so I had no excuse not to punish the pixels.
We made an early start out of the capital and trod the well worn path to the Ekkamai bus station before purchasing return bus/ferry combo tickets and settling back for the trip down to Ban Phe pier.
By early afternoon we were chowing down on a much needed brunch at Buddys Bar and Grill (sidenote – prices seem to have increased on the island since our last visit for food in particular!) before taking in the now mandatory foot scrub and massage on the beach (Bliss!).
Luckily there was time for a quick nap before donning the wedding garb and meeting the gang for pre-nuptial drinks. The grooms brother wasted no time in getting the party started as he made the rounds with a bottle of Tequlia and shot glass at the ready.
I don’t recall having been to a beach wedding before, and it was a beautiful ceremony! As the sun was setting the entourage, dressed in white, made their way down the beach where a simple ceremony was held, after which we got stuck into the food and drinks. We danced, laughed and partied into the night.
The day after turned into a fairly sedate affair with most folks doing their own thing. Some afternoon beers were had before I hunted down some new ink in readiness for CNY.
No sooner had Monday rolled around and it was time to head home.
