I wonder how many Scansnap 1500s Tim Ferriss has sold via his book 4HWW? He got me! It’s a great little device, but getting it to work with Linux was somewhat of a challenge that chewed up a day of my time. Work the problem people SANE, somewhat ironically named, is the Linux scanner interface, broken up into ‘backends’ and ‘frontends’ backends consist of .conf files, firmware and such while frontends include the scanimage command line utility and xsane scanning GUI. lsusb lists the current devices attached to the usb bus.
